22A – Elevator Pitch No. 3

The Link to my Pitch https://youtu.be/9yMGC3gtYMU

The comments helped point out that I was really stiff in front of the camera, looking away and not really having a strong explanation and wording for how the pitch should have gone.

After my last video I saw that I was way too nervous in front of the camera I could feel it too, I had like 5 first videos all of me laughing and stuttering ruining those videos. I didn't dress in business attire the other time too due to constraints in where I was when I had my fried to help with recording. I figured this time to have a more clear wording of what my pitch should clearly mentioned and try my best to be able to say it without giving so many um's and yeahs.

I tried to hit the main points and did my best with what I could remember on what I wanted to say with details. The camera is still horrible and terrifying to be in front of, and hard not to giggle when trying to be serious when recorded. Sorry about the dog noises in the background, he got hungry and thirsty during the video recordings.

21A – Reading Reflection No. 2

Book : Shoe Dog By Phil Knight

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?
- The General theme was about how hard Phil Knight worked his way up from scratch to building up Nike to what it is now. He wanted to change the world and add something to it and worked to build it until it came true. He encouraged individuality, surrounding yourself with people who believe in you and help you, and  do as much as you can while it least affects you.

2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
- He stuck to his dream, he had complete confidence in it and preserved to reach that goal. Just like the class has encouraged out business ideas and to plan and work on it to make it work.

3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
- Phil Knight took the risk of visiting CEO Mr.Onitsuka and tried to get the rights to sell his shoes in the US and lied about having a company to do so with. The activity I suggest would be if you were to meet with a ground breaking deal for your company that you would get if you lied would you take the chance and see if you could make it through.

4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
- I was surprised that the book was about Nike's founder, based off the title I wasn't sure what I would be reading about but I was interested to further read about how such a large brand today came to be. Another Big one is that Nike lied and said he had a business called Blue Ribbon, although it resulted in helping to get experience selling shoes its weird to think about what would it be like if the name stuck. Also weird to think running shoes weren't really a thing before then, when the company was rising up to fill that gap.

Finally: Reflect. This experience requires you to do a little 'targeted networking.' How will this experience shape how you participate in any future networking events? Did this experience differ from your networking experiences in the past? How?
- This will let me be more confident, talking to strangers who have been in the field longer then I have wasn't as scary as I thought. They're real people with lives and sense of humor not out to judge me for every fault. Trying to talk so forced doesn't work it has to be casual.

19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

You:  My name is Aliana Chu, I am a UF student, attending school to gain a bachelors in Plant Science. I have a talent in leadership and teamwork, and am working towards learning all I can about plants to one day open my one garden shop. I have a passion for organizing, and ensuring everything gets done on time. I aspire to grow and expand my skill sets to be able to multitask and tackle any problem head on. If I were to start this business concept I foresee it facing a mixed reaction, with allowing other drug and substance abuse prevention programs, but being an essential piece to decreasing the new rise of nicotine products in teens it could be seen as a new avenue to try.

What are you offering to customers: I am offering schools and youth groups a service that will educate and make nicotine products less appealing to students and teens. This service will target the social and aesthetic appeal of Juuls which have recently skyrocketed in popularity. Students will be given the typical spiel of the negative things that can occur with harsh realistic expectation of the future complications they would face. And through certified people, parents can opt to choose to allow their child to take part in trying a cigarette and juul to demonstrate to first timers how awful it feels. They will be shown how smokers have limited places to be allowed and how much time and memories they lose out on due to it. Students will be taken out to an area where they will have no phone access, have to stand, and not be allowed to talk, to fully experience how addiction will take so much time out of your life and keep you from being able to fully enjoy going places.

Who are you offering it to: It is being offered to middle school and high schools, as well as youth group programs that wish to deter kids who may think of picking up a bad trend and habit. These organizations will be able to choose how they want to approach the subject and how far we can go in terms of demonstrations. Trained groups will go to the schools ans set up the program for the week and talk to students during that time and show how devastating and impactful and addiction can be from something simple and harmless looking.

Why do they care: They care because Juul use is on the rise in teens and a new generation of people falling to nicotine addiction is occurring The same methods that helped stop cigarette use may not be as effective for Juuls as many consider it to safe and less armful then cigarettes. While many are also ignorant towards the idea of not being able to overcome the urge to use a nicotine product whenever they feel like it. Pushing the idea for students to be able to each take a breath of a Juul and cigarette will most likely hurt their lungs a bit, hopefully giving them the long lasting memory of not wanting to try the product again. Once a child has done it once they will also be placed in a system so they shall not be allowed to try it again in the program.

What are your core competencies: While other programs created aim to educate students on the negatives of what happens if you try nicotine. Our product actually physical tries to implement it with the approval of parents in a set setting for them to see the true dangers. If they opt out they will still experience the classroom setting where they get to truly experience how distrustful this addiction will be. This may also be the first program to specifically tackle use of Juuls since it came out recently.

All these concepts ties together to tackle the big picture of educating and preventing a whole generation of people in their youth from making bad decision which will ruin their life in the future. Compared to the previous issue of cigarettes popular false reputation for being good to then finding out they were toxic to people slowly quitting and not using them because they look cool. Juul has been reputed as a safer alternative but still contains nicotine and the possibility for harm yet many still choose to use it even knowing that.

Ive fixed up my previous napkin a bit to be more clearer in word choice to be easier to understand what I meant originally for the plans of the business.

I didn’t do my Last pitch but I presented it to friends and they told me I laughed too much while doing and looked away a lot so I tried to dim that down this time.

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

Image result for teens
https://hhp-blog.s3.amazonaws.com/2015/12/happy-teens.jpg

My customer avatar is someone in their teens to youth adult. Age 14-20 they are young and in school learning new things and exploring new things to try and do, fitting in with trends and socializing trying to find their crowd. They will be starting to see and be around people using or have interest in drinking, drugs, and smoking. At some point they may be offered to join in and try smoking or juuling.

They have moral sense and know not to fall for using a product with nicotine considering the risks for addiction but may try anyways to satisfy curiosity and go with the flow of their environments encouragement for it.  They may fall for the product due to having a new fun object to play with, trying different flavors to smoke and get buzzed with or get so swept up in using it with others they unknowingly become addicted.

My customer may have veered off the beaten path towards addiction or managed to keep themselves away from it. Either way their knowledge and understanding of Juuls and e cigarettes around them will rise. And if they become addicted they now need to find a way to stop.

My customer is a young person in school, who will be naive to the dangers of nicotine and harsh reality of addiction. They wont take warning for not using the product seriously. They will most likely wont realize how bad their problem becomes until they can go without, get called out on it by a peer, or can no longer fund it.

I am similar to my avatar because until coming to college and seeing my friends start juuling and looking into the product more I never really thought much of it. And its no coincidence, almost everyone I spoke to about the topic didn't have much thoughts on it either unless they had family or friends who were affected by it in the long term.
